You're a Round Peg in a Round Hole - Outgoing NOA Director eulogizes Oyelade, praises Makinde's infrastructural developments

The outgoing State Director, National Orientation Agency, (NOA) Dr. Olukemi Afolayan  has commended  Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for supporting the Agency  through the  establishment of the Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OYMASED)  which has helped to ease the Agency's operations.

She said that improved road network and  infrastructural development across the State has made it easier for NOA to carry out its sensitization assignments  across  the State, citing communities like Lanlate, Iseyin, Ogbomoso, Fapote, Saki,  Iwere-Ile,  Ibadan less city and the municipals and many other communities

Dr. Afolayan  made this known during a  send-off held in her honour at the NOA Headquarters, Ibadan following her transfer to the Abuja Headquarter as the National Director of Civic, Values and Democracy Education.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Commissioner for Information, Oyo State, Prince Dotun Oyelade,  praised the Agency for their critical roles in public awareness and civic engagement.

He  described  the celebrant as one of NOA’s finest ambassadors, noting that her tenure had significantly strengthened the agency’s role in mobilizing Citizens.

While reflecting on NOA's evolution, the  Commissioner said since 1993 when the Mass Mobilization for Self Reliance, Social Justice, and Economic Recovery (MAMSER), which was established in 1987, metamorphosed into NOA, I had followed the trajectory of the organisation and it is my submission that despite the residual challenges facing the agency, Dr. Olukemi Afolayan has stood out as one of the best Ambassadors of NOA.

“While some critics have always questioned the continued relevance of NOA, it goes without saying that the organisation as a body still has a big role to play in mobilizing the people towards lofty national ideals.” Oyelade said.

“And this can only be possible and achievable if the Federal Government can give half of their attention and the financial muscle given to the old MAMSER.”

In his address at the event, a renowned broadcaster, Mayor Isaac Brown, who lauded the celebrant for her relentless efforts towards effective service delivery, also urged the Federal Government to increase funding for NOA for a smooth actualization of its operational mandates.

Other attendees who honoured the outgoing NOA State Director, including a former NOA Oyo State Director and Baale Iloka of Egbeda Local Government Area of the State,  Chief Moshood Olaleye and the Osun State NOA Director, Mr. Adebiyi Adefarasin, praised Dr. Afolayan's  dedication to service.
