Dursun Özbek was elected president of Galatasaray during an ordinary elective general assembly meeting, winning his fourth term after receiving 1,780 votes out of 2,079 members who cast ballots.
The count, completed on the 12th ballot, confirmed Özbek as the club's 36th president in a contest that featured a single candidate. Özbek cast his ballot at ballot box 1, where Galatasaray Divan Başkanı Aykutalp Derkan and Second President Metin Öztürk also voted; the club's veteran coach Fatih Terim voted separately at ballot box 2.
After the result, Özbek thanked the membership and framed the outcome as a mandate to continue and improve the club's work, saying the assembly's message was to press on and write a new, success‑filled chapter for Galatasaray. He promised that he and his team would build on past service and aim to deliver for the 26‑28 period.
The scale of participation and the tally give numerical weight to Özbek's position: 2,079 members voted and 1,780 supported him. Those figures, combined with the single‑candidate format, leave him with a clear internal endorsement to lead the club into the coming term.
Former president Faruk Süren urged the club to back Özbek and described the vote as the start of an important phase for Galatasaray. Süren said there were no other candidates and added that Özbek would have prevailed even if there had been. He outlined several ongoing projects he said require collective support, including the Ada issue, which he declared finished, and construction work in Florya.
Süren also recalled that Özbek explained the Aslantepe Vadisi project on 23 April and described plans for three new indoor halls — for basketball, volleyball and a swimming pool — tied to broader real estate and infrastructure investment. He put potential project costs in the range of 200 million to 250 million euro and said the president aims to complete the work within about 2 to 2.5 years.
The single‑candidate nature of the ballot frames the result in two ways: it gives Özbek an uncontested mandate to pursue those projects, but it also means the election offered no direct choice between competing programs. Süren himself acknowledged the absence of rivals while insisting the outcome reflects broad support and that the leadership now needs practical help to deliver on major construction and sporting aims.
Özbek's immediate task is operational: convert member backing into progress on the items discussed before and after the vote, from Florya works to Aslantepe Vadisi and the three proposed halls. The new term begins with numbers that show internal unity; what follows will be measured by whether the promised investments and the 2‑2.5 year timetable materialize.
