The and the Police Force have fixed 28-30 April 2026 for the written examination for applicants seeking enlistment as police constables. The test will be held at designated centres across the 36 states and the , and it covers both general duty and specialist applicants.

Only candidates who passed the earlier physical and credentials screening can sit for the exam. Qualified applicants were told to log on to the recruitment portal from 24 April 2026 to print their examination invitation cards, which will show the date, time and venue of each candidate’s test.

The commission also said candidates must come with a pen, a National Identification Number slip issued by the with a clear photograph, and a printed copy of the invitation card. The prescribed dress code is white shorts, a white T-shirt and white canvas.

The warning came as the constable exercise moved into a critical phase. A supplementary update said unscreened candidates in the ongoing 50,000-constable recruitment exercise must report to their designated screening centres before a mid-April 2026 deadline, and those who missed their initial dates were encouraged to show up before the screening closes. Those who clear that stage will proceed to the computer-based test now set for 28-30 April 2026.

The commission said the process is entirely free and warned applicants not to pay anyone claiming to help them secure the job. It said any job racketeering, scam or financial inducement would be met with the full force of the law, and urged candidates to rely only on official communication channels for updates. For applicants still in the process, the next step is clear: finish screening, print the card on 24 April, and appear at the assigned centre on the date printed on it.
