SAMUEL Oyedotun, an aspirant for the Osun East Senatorial District on the Accord Party platform, said Governor Ademola Adeleke remains a popular political personality across Osun State as the 2027 general elections approach. He said Adeleke’s acceptance has not waned and that the governor continues to draw support well beyond party lines.
Oyedotun said the governor’s popularity has become a source of concern to the All Progressives Congress, which he said has struggled to explain why Adeleke keeps gaining ground. He said the governor’s appeal reaches residents who have been won over by his approach to governance and by what Oyedotun described as a style that has kept him connected to ordinary people.
“Adeleke’s appeal cuts across party lines and resonates with the residents who were connected to his approach and style of governance,” Oyedotun said. He added that “even within All Progressives Congress circles, many cannot explain why Adeleke’s acceptance has not waned. It is still a mystery to them because the people’s governor keeps getting more popular every day.”
The remarks revive a political argument that has followed Adeleke since he won the 2022 poll, when Oyedotun said the opposition underestimated him before he defeated the incumbent. He said the governor has since excelled in areas where his predecessors failed and has done more than critics expected after taking office.
Oyedotun also tied Adeleke’s support to projects underway in major towns and rural communities, saying the works have helped reduce poverty and improved residents’ welfare. He said those projects have won public support for the administration and put Adeleke in a strong position for re-election. The comments add another layer to the ademola adeleke popularity osun debate by linking the governor’s standing not just to personality, but to visible work on the ground.
That is where the friction lies for the opposition. Oyedotun said Adeleke has faced a campaign of calumny, yet his popularity has continued to rise rather than fade. He said the governor remains emboldened by grassroots backing and that the Osun masses are ready to support him with their vote on August 15.
Oyedotun’s own ambitions sit beside the governor’s political momentum. He said he has bright chances of clinching the Accord Party ticket for Osun East and that, if elected, he would give priority to people’s welfare. For now, though, his message was less about his own race than about the force he says Adeleke still commands in Osun politics.
