Captain said the route is meant to strengthen the airline’s presence nationwide and improve access to the region. He said the service would give business and leisure passengers a more convenient, reliable and time-saving choice, while also offering a faster and more comfortable alternative to road travel along the route.

Majekodunmi said the addition of Benin reflects the airline’s focus on connecting key cities across Nigeria with safe, reliable and customer-friendly services. He also said is pleased to offer more accessible and efficient travel options as it continues to widen its reach.

The Benin launch fits into a broader network that already includes Lagos services to Abuja, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Calabar, Kano, Gateway International Airport and Jos, giving ValueJet seven domestic destinations. The airline also flies regionally to Cotonou, Accra, Malabo and Banjul, bringing its international footprint to four regional destinations. Tickets for the Lagos–Benin service will be sold through the airline’s official website and mobile app.

The expansion follows a string of announcements about the new route, with reports saying ValueJet had unveiled plans to launch the domestic service and concluded plans to add Benin City as a destination. For passengers in Edo and across the South-South, the real test will be whether the new schedule turns a promised shortcut into a dependable one.
