City Boy Movement: Seyi Tinubu didn’t say God can’t stop his father from serving eight years

The on Monday said did not say God cannot stop his father from serving eight years as president, rejecting a viral allegation that accused him of making a blasphemous remark. The denial came after a Facebook user identified as published an article claiming Tinubu had made the comment.

, the movement’s deputy director-general for communication and public affairs, said the allegation was a deliberate falsehood aimed at damaging Seyi Tinubu’s name, distorting his values and stirring needless religious tension. He said, “For the avoidance of doubt, Barr. Seyi Tinubu did not make the statement credited to him. He has never made such a statement at any time, in any place, through any channel, or under any circumstance whatsoever,” and added that the attribution was “entirely false,” “malicious in intent, reckless in circulation and dangerous in consequence.”

Abdullahi’s post alleged that Tinubu said, “There is nothing that can stop my father from completing his eight years in power. Not even God is capable,” but did not say when or where the comment was supposedly made. said it could not find a video or other evidence to support the attribution. Ogra also said Tinubu “has never insulted, mocked, questioned or diminished the supremacy of Almighty God or Allah, and will never do so.”

The dispute lands in a sensitive political moment because the allegation touches both religion and President Bola Tinubu’s reported 2027 ambition. The movement said Seyi Tinubu remains committed to mobilising support for his father’s re-election in 2027, while also recognizing that any political aspiration can succeed only by the will and guidance of Almighty God.

That leaves the claim where the movement said it belongs: unproven, denied and unsupported by evidence. With no video, no date and no place attached to the allegation, the burden remains on those repeating it to show more than a viral post.
