The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says the printing of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination original result slips has not yet been activated, leaving candidates waiting for access to a document many need for the next stage of admission.
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin disclosed the delay in a statement on Tuesday, saying the board had just concluded foreign examinations and was preparing for the mop-up examination for candidates who could not sit the main test through no fault of theirs. Benjamin said the UTME is a ranking examination and that the original result slip carries candidates’ rankings, which means all necessary processes must be finished before the slips are released.
The board said the printing portal will open once those adjustments are completed and that candidates will be informed when to proceed. It apologised for the delay and asked candidates and other stakeholders for patience.
The timing matters because JAMB has already pegged 150 as the cut-off mark for university admission in 2026, and candidates have been pressing online for access to their scores as they prepare for post-UTME screening, admission decisions and possible changes of course or institution. JAMB said candidates can still check results by SMS using their registered phone numbers, a fallback it has used before.
The friction is simple: candidates want the slips now, but JAMB says it cannot release them until the ranking process is complete. For students trying to move quickly through admissions, the delay keeps one of the first official documents they need just out of reach.
