The has ended the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking its presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections, while extending the deadline for other elective offices to May 24, 2026.

The party said the collection of forms for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship positions, which had first been set to close at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, will now run until midnight on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The statement announcing the timetable was signed in on Monday by the National Secretary, .

Screening of aspirants who had purchased and completed the forms was set to begin on Tuesday, May 19, and end on May 26, according to the timetable. Collection and return of Nomination Forms for those who are screened and cleared will begin on Wednesday, 20th May, 2026, and close on Tuesday, 26th May, 2026. The party said no further extension would be granted beyond the deadline.

Aspirants have been directed to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues across the country with educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s identification card, NDC membership card and curriculum vitae. All submitted documents must be provided in six copies, and only cleared aspirants will be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms. The Screening Committee will also consider the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths and persons living with disabilities.

In , party chairman said many aspirants were rushing to buy expression of interest forms ahead of the primaries, but he could not give the exact number that had already been sold. He said the rush reflected confidence among aspirants in what he described as a party without imposition, adding that the people would choose their leaders and the electorate would decide who to vote for once the candidates emerge.

The timetable marks the next major step in the Nigeria Democratic Congress’ preparations for the 2027 general elections, with presidential form sales now closed and the race for legislative and governorship tickets entering screening and nomination stages. The decisive point is no longer who applies, but who clears the party’s screening and makes it onto the ballot path.
