Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has lost his bid for the House of Representatives ticket in Imo State after seeking the APC nomination for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency. He reportedly fell short to Hon. Canice Moore Nwachukwu, who already represents the constituency in the 10th National Assembly.
The loss ends a run that had drawn national attention after Okechukwu announced his candidacy and received public backing from Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu. It also marks another turn in a political path that moved quickly from the 2023 general elections, when he openly supported Peter Obi and the Labour Party, to a later alignment with the APC and its leadership.
Okechukwu is also the DG of City Boy Movement in Imo State, a role that helped place him closer to the political center of the APC in the state. His bid had been watched not just because of his celebrity profile, but because it tested how far that visibility could carry him inside a party primary already anchored by a sitting lawmaker.
The result leaves Nwachukwu in control of the APC ticket for the constituency and confirms that Okechukwu’s entry into the race was not enough to dislodge an incumbent with an existing seat in the 10th National Assembly. For Cubana Chief Priest, the question now is not whether he can attract attention. It is whether that attention can be converted into an actual political foothold.
