The All Progressives Congress has postponed its House of Representatives primary election for the 2027 general elections to Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Felix Morka announced the change in a statement on Thursday, saying the primary for the lower chamber will now take place on that date. The party said the dates earlier announced for the Senate, state houses of assembly, governorship and presidential primaries remain unchanged.
Under the new schedule, the APC said State House of Assembly primaries will now be held on Wednesday, 20th May, 2026, while presidential primaries are set for Saturday, 23rd May, 2026. The party did not say why the House of Representatives contest was moved.
The postponement leaves the APC’s wider nomination timetable intact even as one part of it shifts by a week. For aspirants to the House of Representatives, the new date gives them a little more time to organize; for the party, the message is that the rest of its primary calendar is still on track.
