Xiaomi has confirmed the Xiaomi 17 Max will launch in China later this month and is already available for pre-order on the official Xiaomi China online store, the company said as it released early design teasers and color options.
The phone maker showed off a flat 6.9-inch display with slim bezels on all four sides, a four-curved middle frame and a squircle-shaped rear camera module, and said customers can pre-order the device in White, Clear Blue and Pixel Black. One of the offered finishes features a carbon fiber-inspired look.
The hardware outline matters because it points to the kind of device Xiaomi is preparing: a large-screen, endurance-oriented flagship. Rumors circulating ahead of the launch attribute a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 system-on-chip to the 17 Max, an exceptionally large 8,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging support, and a triple-rear camera setup led by a 200MP 1/1.4-inch main sensor supported by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP ultrawide sensor.

The contrast is stark: Xiaomi abandoned a sub-6mm concept because thinness compromised endurance and speed, and now appears to be pitching a nearly 7-inch phone rumored to pack an 8,000mAh cell. That decision frames the 17 Max as an answer to the engineering trade-offs Lu described — favoring battery life and sustained performance over the thin-and-light design some competitors pursue.
Buyers who care about comparisons should note that models across Xiaomi’s lineup will now present a clearer choice.
