Former Inspector-General of Police has expressed deep dissatisfaction after the governorship primary in , where he was defeated in the race for the party’s ticket. Adamu said the setback would not end his political ambition and declared that he would “pursue my ambition elsewhere.”

The primary has continued to stir controversy among stakeholders, with some participants alleging irregularities in both its conduct and outcome. The APC leadership, however, said the exercise was carried out in line with party guidelines.

During the primary, scored 863 votes, polled 195,285 votes and Adamu got 39,675 votes. Adamu did not formally announce his resignation from the APC, but attention has shifted to whether he will leave the party or remain in it ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

On Saturday in , Liman said Wadada is now the duly elected APC flag bearer in Nasarawa State and urged supporters not to do anything that could disturb the peace. He said power is given by God, and He gives it to the person He wants at the time He wants, adding that there is no alternative to peace and that peace is the bedrock of everything in society.

Liman called on Nasarawa residents, especially APC members, to be law-abiding and peaceful in how they conduct themselves. He also urged supporters and the wider public to follow due process and ensure that Wadada is duly elected as the next governor in 2027, saying he remained a committed party member and would work to help the party win the coming elections.

The next test is not Adamu’s defeat but whether he turns his warning into a formal break with the APC or keeps his place in the party while searching for another route to the 2027 general election.
